Need puede ser verbo modal y verbo pleno. Como verbo pleno corresponde a necesitar . Como verbo modal expresa una necesidad que no es exigida por una ley, lógica o fuerza natural. No hay una fuerza exterior que impone la acción, es más bien una fuerza interior, como mostrarán los ejemplos. El español no conoce estas distinciones y por lo tanto hay que traducir need como verbo modal con tener que .
